A celebrated wine list and innovative American cuisine served in a renovated church.
The Scene The setting is impressive: Partners John and Buddy Duncan have spent some money to upgrade a 100-year-old church-turned-gardening shop into a clean, airy dining spot. The textured walls are cream-colored with dark wooden accents, including a curved balcony and an elegant bar.
The Food The wine list is impressive, offering 200 wines by the glass from bottles kept in custom-designed refrigerated cabinets. Servers happily make suggestions for matching wine to dinner. Crab cakes and seared jumbo scallops make nice starters. For the main course, try the pork loin (juicy and tender around its apple walnut stuffing) or the grouper, which is one of the best seafood dishes in town. For dessert, the large creme brulee has a silky body and the perfect crunch, and the chocolate pyramid is worthy of the sweet tooth gods.
