The Scene
Emory staff, retired world travelers and nouveau hippies alike keep coming back to this low-key locale. The comfy main room with its tile floors and neutral colors is warmed by Middle Eastern background music and sepia prints of old Lebanon.

The Food
Though Mezza's menu offers over 70 options, stick to the simpler items. Exquisitely creamy hummus comes with a hearty jolt of lemon. Fried cauliflower--spice coated, seared and topped with nutty tahini dressing--is delightful. Ditto the Shawarma--tender, mild beef slices served with the same tahini dressing. As for salads, tabbouleh is so parsley-laden that it's nearly unchewable, but the al raee, with its smooth, sweetish roasted eggplant, and counterpoint of tomatoes, onion and garlic, is a more reliable choice. Don't overlook executive chef Liza's ice cream with its crunchy, buttery caramelized almonds, for dessert.
