The Scene
Downstairs, it's similar to the faux-antique Irish pubs that are popping up everywhere. Upstairs, the dining experience is quiet, dark and stylish. With just a candle lighting each table, reading the short menu can be a challenge. Service is friendly and any questions will be answered.
The Food
Start off with mussels for a tasty treat: The mussels are plump and drizzled in a creamy garlic-wine sauce. (Note: It's a rather skimpy portion for the price.) All the main courses are authentically prepared and served with flair. Shepherd's pie arrives in a metal bucket--thick, beefy stew topped with mashed potatoes. Corned beef and cabbage is also a winner, with corned beef sliced thin and buttery soft. Try a boxty for something different--it's an Irish burrito, but instead of a tortilla, your filling (some variation on beef and mushrooms, usually) is wrapped in a large potato pancake.
