The Scene
Wallingford families with sushi-munching kids sit next to well-heeled Japanese patrons at this welcoming Japanese restaurant in Tangletown. The decor is casually bright, modern and clearly Ikea-inspired. Patrons can sit at the U-shaped sushi bar or snag a table and watch the action as the sushi chef slices, dices and makes short, elegant work of his raw materials.
The Food
True to its neighborhood spirit, this spot offers a healthy mix of Japanese standards, buttery sashimi combos and inventive sushi rolls. Start with the creamy agedashi tofu or th sauteed mushroom salad with a tangy miso dressing. The caterpillar roll, complete with eel ''legs'' and sizeable chunks of avocado, will satisfy kids and grownups alike, while the Green Lake Roll keeps neighborhood pride, with salmon, fish roe, asparagus, avocado and topped with slimy marinated seaweed. Sashimi can be ordered a la carte or in a number of combinations.
