The Scene
Young couples and families dominate the ever-present crowd. Bright yellow stucco walls and '50s-style vinyl chairs keep the place feeling festive. Look up and you'll find rectangular lights covered with colored paper in various designs. One design sums up Beto's made-by-hand philosophy: a hand with a heart in the palm.
The Food
The empanadas may be famous for the pie-crust flakiness of the shell, but the fillings deserve just as much attention. From the subtle kick of chicken poblano to the creamy sweetness of banana with leche quemada, these pastries don't fool around. The thick handmade corn tortillas enveloping the tacos don't fall apart the way lesser tortillas do, so you're free to focus on the contents, from spicy-sweet tacos al pastor to grilled fish with cilantro and poblano sauce. Wash it all down with hibiscus honey tea or, for the more adventurous, the mint leaf and rum combo that is the mojito.
