Linger over conversation, courses and cocktails amid a hip urban scene.
The Scene Featuring progressive American cuisine from Sonoma's Pierre Bader, this a la carte eatery is housed in uptown's luxury Gateway Village. The exhibition kitchen lets passers-by catch a glimpse of the action, and the contemporary design, with dark wood and floor-to-ceiling windows, creates a chic ambience. The Food An assortment of tapas-inspired creations dots the menu; diners customize their meals by selecting from appetizers, main courses and sides. The kitchen's strength is definitely in the starter courses and desserts--main courses are rather nondescript; though the fresh, flaky roasted snapper, with subtle lemon-butter sauce, is an exception. The vegetable dumplings, filled with flavorful fresh veggies, are enhanced by zesty ginger-soy sauce. Don't miss the standout sweet potato ravioli, dressed in a delicate garlic-butter sauce. For dessert, sample the house specialty, caramel-banana pie, a tart-like cousin to the traditional bananas Foster.
