The Scene
Charleston's decor and ambience provide a visually stimulating feast for the eyes. Low-hung chandeliers and warm woodwork contribute an impression of dining on an elegant plantation with an open kitchen. The superb service is the epitome of Southern hospitality. Reservations are strongly recommended.
The Food
As with most fine-dining restaurants, owner-chef Cindy Wolfe's menu changes regularly. Two outstanding Southern-style starters are the cornmeal-encrusted oysters with lemon-cayenne mayonnaise and the paper-thin smoked salmon, which literally melts in your mouth. A perfect entree of veal medallions is served in rich, sweet reduction sauce; the bacon-wrapped filet mignon overflows with juices. Continue with a cheese course or move straight to dessert. Charleston's decadent selection includes creme brulee topped with soft raspberries and a chocolate Napoleon with fresh blackberries.
