The Scene
The upstairs dining room makes the argument that beer can be just as classy as wine. Wood-paneled walls, old books and jazz music create the feel of a country library in the heart of Baltimore's chicest neighborhood. High ceilings, white tablecloths and a well-heeled crowd further the argument.
The Food
Like the beer, the menu changes with the season, but patrons can always find inventive takes on rustic European fare. With only nine main-course items offered at any given time, Brewer's Art wastes no room on boring basics. Instead, diners will find a hearty port-infused oxtail ragout topped with two perfectly seared slices of tuna, or a moist, flavorful double-bone pork chop served with braised cabbage. A salad of large grilled sardines with a timbale of fingerling potatoes makes for a bold beginning; a chai-spiced cake that tastes of chocolate and gingerbread is a sublime way to end.
