The Scene
Award-winning corned beef and an amazing array of sandwiches are among the reasons Attman's has been packing 'em in since 1915. Minutes from Baltimore's Inner Harbor (in a once-thriving neighborhood that's seen better days), the deli's main hall is narrow, noisy and unpretentious. An adjoining room allows patrons to sit among photos of sated celebrities who partook of the generous portions back in the day.
The Food
Push your way to the end of the line and call out your order to the friendly workers behind the counter. Don't let sandwich names like Tongue Fu or Gay Liveration distract you. Traditionalists keep coming back for knishes, reubens and matzo ball soup. Just be sure to loosen your belt so you can squeeze in a piece of a homemade ruggelach or a helping of bread pudding afterwards.
