The Scene
Downstairs, the décor is cozy and eclectic, with black-and-white floor tiles, exposed ducts and a potpourri of knickknacks. Open on weekends, the upstairs dining room is furnished in more traditional light wood, with folding screens and colorful prints on the walls.
The Food
Matsuri may have the largest selection of sushi in Baltimore. The Sumo roll, filled with a feast of grilled salmon, eel, tuna and white fish, is easily a meal in itself. Other grilled appetizers also shine, like shitaki-yaki, six delicate mushrooms bathed in soy sauce and sesame seeds, and ebi-yake, two skewers of shrimp and green onions in sweet sauce.
Dish to Die For
Matsuri's Bento box is a dinner sampler of Japanese favorites, including miso soup, tangy seaweed salad and three selections from 19 items, including scrumptious sushi and crispy tempura.
