The Scene
Upon entering John Steven's, you'll find a fun, lively bar complete with your favorite draft beers. The dining room is a comfy enclave where wooden cases are filled with African art and artifacts. In warm weather, the best seats are in the cozy, flower-lined courtyard lit with flickering candles.
The Food
Seafood (mussels, clams, crab cakes, fresh catches of the day) is the traditional favorite here. The fish-and-chips--which certainly aren't made with prepackaged frozen filets--are beer-battered and wrapped in paper, just as they are in merry old England. Alternatives to seafood include a chicken breast sandwich, chuck burger and a pork sirloin served with caramelized Asian pears.
