The Scene
With a comfy, contemporary setting (think blond wood ceilings and tables) and an innovative sushi menu, New Ginza offers a slightly more interesting dining experience compared to the acclaimed Ginzas of Chinatown and Brookline (with which it's loosely affiliated). An army of quiet, knowledgeable waitresses serves as a direct link between diners and the master chefs that man the sushi bar.
The Food
New Ginza's kitchen does wonders with Japanese favorites like salmon teriyaki and shrimp tempura by preparing the freshest ingredients available in artful presentations. After starting with a selection or three from the sushi bar (the hefty Celtics Maki deliciously combines tuna, salmon, cucumber, avocado, and sprouts), consider cooking your own dinner by ordering one of the sizzling stone grill entrees that diners prepare at their table. Like all entrees, it comes with a refreshing garden salad and savory miso soup. Leave room for palate-cleansing green tea mousse for dessert.
