The Scene
This traditional Greek restaurant keeps local families, many of them from the mother country, coming back for dependable interpretations of standards. The casual dining room is filled most nights, and many of those waiting for a table pass the time in the surprisingly handsome, well-stocked bar. Congenial waiters seem to know many a patron by name.
The Food
Large portions plus reasonable prices equals many local favorites. Greek specialties include flaky spinach pies, ground beef and eggplant casserole, and tasty kebabs of beef, chicken and lamb. Entrees are served with a flavorful Greek salad and fluffy rice pilaf or roasted potatoes. From the extensive seafood menu, shrimp and broccoli are served over rice, while fresh scrod is broiled with a light coating of bread crumbs and then brushed with margarine. Desserts like a mocha cappuccino tart are on the lighter side.
