The Scene
Located on one end of a non-descript strip mall, Tennessee's serves up dependable, affordable barbecue platters to a suburban crowd. Diners choose from large overhead menu boards and order at the counter. There are many huge tables, perfect for families who frequent the restaurant.
The Food
Don't let the locale fool you; this is serious barbecue. Some of the meats are marinated for 24 hours and then smoked another 16, ensuring moist, flavorful brisket and pulled pork. Hearty, award-winning ribs are a customer favorite, as are hefty burritos filled with apple-smoked chicken. Huge vats of tangy barbecue sauces provide extra flavor. Lighter fare includes jumbo salads topped with barbecued chicken. All platters come with a choice of sides, which include molasses baked beans, sticky-sweet candied yams, broccoli cole slaw and perfect mashed potatoes. Pecan pie's usually the only dessert available.
