A lived-in neighborhood bar in the heart of tourist and student central.
The Scene While Charlie's has more of a diner setting on the ground floor, it's got a dive-like bar on the upper level. Sit yourself down at the second floor's curvaceous bar or one of several tables, or sneak your small group of friends into one of the high-backed booths for cozier and somewhat private conversation. Guests here are regulars--a mix of college students, tattooed women, blue-collar workers and a slew of mid-20-to-30-something plaid-shirt types.
The Food Charlie's has a wealth of ales from domestic to imported; try a thick and creamy Murphy's Irish Stout. Don't forget about the food--every once in a while, you can feast on scrumptious lobster dishes from a special Lobsterfest menu for less than $10. For a more enlightened drinking/dining experience, pop some coins into the bar's jukebox and listen to everything from the Beatles to New Order.
