The Scene
Zephyr has the cookie cutter hotel-Deco look. But the view of the Charles River is far from standard-issue. Grab a terrace table if the weather permits.
The Food
Yes, you can order a large plate of roast chicken or a grilled steak, but it's more interesting to assemble a meal from several of Lynette Mosher's ''small'' plates (i.e., the size you should eat), all under $10. Intensely green sweet pea crepes wrapped around chunks of lobster and avocado are simultaneously sprightly and satisfying, while the most committed carnivores will relish the sliced leg of lamb with chickpea fries. A nest of soba noodles with spicy sauce brightens up the austere, but perfectly steamed halibut in banana leaf. A couple of small dishes go a long way, especially since desserts are rich and big. Our favorite is the shortbread with lemon curd, berries and real whipped cream. Wine, beer and martini flights extend the ''sampler'' theme.
