The Scene
By offering exceptional modern Italian fare in a welcoming environment, Pomodoro sets the gold standard for neighborhood trattorias (much like how sister establishment Matt Murphy's trumps most Irish pubs). The dining room, awash in autumnal hues and soft lighting, surrounds a simple, wooden horseshoe bar that provides a perfect location for enjoying a homemade antipasto plate and glass of wine. Social servers are quick to greet regular customers and point out favorite menu items.

The Food

With a menu that redefines the concept of Italian fare as comfort food, the kitchen provides patrons with a satisfying spot in which to enjoy a full meal or a light bite. Even the simplest of dishes arrive with a gourmet touch: An order of lightly fried calamari comes with a bowl of chunky plum tomato sauce; a succulent veal chop is served over a mound of zesty lemon risotto and savory mixed mushrooms.
