The Scene
Located in the former home of Figs restaurant, the Metropolitan Club offers moneyed Newtonites a stylish culinary playground. With food and liquor pairings, designer cocktails and stylish lighting and furniture, the bar area is as modern as any in the city. Serious diners decamp to the dimly lit dining room awash in warm browns and golds. Efficient servers and bartenders are familiar with the menu's many intricacies.

The Food
The Met's menu meshes standard steakhouse items with high-concept touches. This approach yields dry-aged cuts of sirloin, plated with colorful spears of carrots or turnips and squiggles of beet alioli. Unique starters include Caprese salad with fried green tomatoes, and pan-seared watermelon ''steak'' with fresh feta. Savory monkfish osso buco and homemade penne carbonara with pancetta and peas are examples of non-bovine entrees available. Popular made-to-order desserts include warm pineapple upside-down cake and molten caramel-filled chocolate cake.
