The Scene
An elegant decor of dark-wood paneling, 30-foot-high ceilings, lush red drapery and fleur-de-lis emblems await crowds of young to middle-aged professionals, both local and guests of the hotel. Evenings, the backdrop is dimly lit so sweethearts can huddle in cushy lounge chairs and settees, though a multi-platform layout makes everyone in the room visible.
The Draw
Enjoy live jazz as you sip peculiar, yet delightful, champagne cocktails, such as a raspberry Romanoff--Razberi Vodka, Blue Curacao, sparkling wine and Stoli-soaked raspberries--and signature martinis like the 007 (shaken, not stirred). Specialty cocktails run a bit more than $10, while beers cost less. Appetizers, sandwiches and desserts are moderately to expensively priced and include cold seafood platters, burgers, rich chocolate cakes and more.
Featuring American cuisine with a focus on steak and New England seafood, the award-winning Oak Room is one of Boston's dining landmarks. Rich fabrics and draperies complement the dark wood paneling, mirrored walls, and a 30-foot ceiling creating a club-like atmosphere. Guests dine in sumptuous banquettes, creating a feeling of intimacy, yet allowing the buzz of conversation in the room to create a vibrancy to the experience. The Oak Room offers a variety of steakhouse classics and contemporary American cuisine, as well as a full raw bar menu. Weekly specials make full use of the bounty of New England purveyors and locally sourced produce and seafood.
