The Scene
King & I has perfected the art of casual and fulfilling neighborhood dining, attracting a devoted throng of locals. Medical staffers from nearby hospitals dine next to moneyed Beacon Hillers and students after a satisfying, easy-on-the-wallet meal. Blond wood paneling and Asian art prints make for a tranquil setting. Attentive, pleasant service is always spot-on and readily accommodates special requests.
The Food
Countless combinations of seafood, chicken, duck, beef and colorful vegetables make up the lengthy menu. Don't be disarmed by the modest pricing--dishes are large and hearty. The house salad is immense and topped with a light peanut sauce. Curry bird, a chicken or duck dish in yellow curry (spiced to your liking), is sweetly studded with pineapple chunks. Pair that with one of the 15 modestly priced wines by the glass and still have money left over for a cab home.
