The Scene
With imported wall-hangings, heavily accented waiters, and traditional Thai cuisine, this is a truly authentic Thai restaurant. A mostly local crowd stops by day and night to dine on pad thai and lethal curries while sipping selections from a surprisingly strong wine list. To the always-smiling, ever-moving waitstaff, empty water glasses are the enemy.
The Food
It takes a patient patron to sift through the never-ending menu of Thai specialties, as numerous preparations of all sorts of meats and fish are offered. Perfect for large parties (or those who can't make up their minds) are appetizer combination platters and dishes like the Siam Splendor, a platter full of beef, chicken, shrimp, scallops and vegetables that arrives at the table sizzling. Adventurous diners should opt for piquant dishes like shrimp in a garlic, chili and tamarind sauce. Put out the fire by finishing with ginger ice cream or warm coconut-tapioca pudding.
