The Scene
Just steps from Mass. Ave., perhaps the city's true equator, this unique restaurant provides colorful locals with a shockingly varied menu and a comfortable atmosphere. Attractive teak tables and wicker seats lend a warm feel to the spacious dining room, while window-side tables provide views of busy Washington St. Service is provided by efficient, ever-smiling waiters.
The Food
The fact that Equator bills itself as both a Thai and European restaurant only hints at its menu's astounding complexity. From lethal Malaysian curries to straightforward pasta dishes, Indonesian noodle dishes to classic prime rib dinners; no culinary stone is left unturned. Expect to pay a few dollars more than you would at your local Thai joint, but generous portions make up for the occasional sticker shock. Reasonably authentic facsimiles of pork bulgoki and crispy pad thai are filling and easy to share. Fresh mango with sticky rice makes for a light, pleasing dessert.
