The Scene
One of the North End's most inviting trattorias. With only a handful of tables and a tiny bar, diners are encouraged to make reservations or face something of a wait. Fortunately, attentive, prompt service combined with a lack of dessert offerings makes for a reasonable turnover of tables. Whether you choose the intimate wine bar or the warmly-lit, exposed-brick dining area, this is a great date spot.
The Food
The seasonal menu places an emphasis on fresh ingredients and offbeat food pairings, like delicious romano-stuffed swordfish. Small plates of marinated vegetables line the windowsill of the bar and make for great starters or side dishes; try some tangy olives marinated with hot peppers and orange, or flavorful roasted beets mixed with red onions and ricotta. Amazing crespelle (Italian-style crepes) are filled with caramelized onions and wild mushrooms and then covered in smoky Bolognese sauce.
