The Scene
Every day of the week, a mostly local crowd (youngsters, retirees and everyone in-between) makes its way to this old-school diner to dig into heaping plates of fluffy pancakes and three-egg omelets. Solo patrons grab a stool at the counter and peruse the daily papers while families pile into roomy booths. Those on their lunch break appreciate the friendly, fast service, as well as the affordable prices.
The Food
The OJ isn't fresh-squeezed, and the syrup is just that (no Vermont maple here). But on the whole, the kitchen's breakfast offerings are a notch above those of your local greasy spoon. Options range from the naughty ''criminal'' (two eggs, seasoned home fries and toast, with a choice of ham, bacon, sausage or corned beef hash) to the healthy ''jock'' (scrambled egg whites with veggies and wheat toast). Lunch items are also popular: Try the ''size does matter'' three-decker club sandwiches (served weekdays only after 11am).
