The Scene
This charming little cafe, located down the street from Southie's Andrew T stop, provides an inexpensive crash-course in all things Polish. From the dining room soundtrack (alternating from Polka to pop to country) to the attentive Polish waitresses, diners may feel they took a wrong turn and ended up in Warsaw. Non-natives can be easily spotted by looking for those staring quizzically at the small dishes of lard adorning each of the six blond pine tables.

The Food
For the uninitiated, Polish cuisine delivers Spartan arrangements of basic, hearty ingredients (intended for endless Polish winters). Try the ''Polish Plate'' to sample most of the menu's items--filling pierogies (boiled dumplings), smoky kielbasa, savory stuffed cabbage or vinegary cabbage stew. The kitchen also churns out nightly specials including Hungarian goulash (Thursdays) and Vienna schnitzel (Fridays). Locals stop by every morning for some of the heftiest breakfasts around.
