The Scene
Most nights at Tia's are calm, pretty and prime for people-watching: The after-work crowd drinks in both the waterfront view and a cocktail (or eight); young moms in from suburbia check their watches over chardonnay; the trade show contingents dissects lobster at clustered tables; and footsore tourists wrestle their Faneuil Hall shopping bags. On the weekends it becomes a rambunctious pickup den, to boot.
Al Fresco
With more than 20 tables facing the ocean, Tia's has one of Boston's best waterfront views, but snagging one of these tables on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday night can be a feat. But once you're down, cocktail waitresses keep you from having to get up each time you're empty. There's also an outdoor bar.
Pickup Factor
Moderate on weekdays, but on the weekends, it could be a sure thing.
Snack While You Sip
Spicy grilled catfish; a decent helping of tender mussels in white wine sauce.
