The Scene
It's a bull market every night as countless business types carouse over expensive steaks and drinks. A stuffy, members-only atmosphere takes nothing away from the dining experience. The amazing wine list has won ''Wine Spectator's'' Award of Excellence. Service is truly exceptional, as waiters take pride in their efforts.
The Food
Traditional, filling steakhouse fare is impeccably presented to beef-lovers of all stripes. The dry-aged steaks, hand-cut daily, are good enough to make you forget there's a real world outside the restaurant. As the entrees are served a la carte, huge portions of excellent sides (mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, sauteed mushrooms) are a must. Fantastic seafood dishes are available, but steak's the star here, especially the steak au poivre, which comes drizzled in cognac sauce. Exceptional desserts include an unbelievably light cheesecake and a pistachio-covered key lime pie
