The Scene
In a neighborhood chock-full of touristy Italian restaurants and cafes, Belvedere fulfills a distinct role as one of the North End's few relaxed, all-purpose hangouts. Older couples and local residents populate the tiny ground floor to dine from an enticing menu of pub fare. Social singles head upstairs to the stylish cocktail lounge to swill designer martinis while enjoying an impressive view of downtown and the never-ending Big Dig.

The Draw
With no dancing or bar games, patrons are left to content themselves with the well-stocked bar (smooth cosmopolitans are a popular choice) and remarkably affordable food menu. The kitchen loosely follows the lead of sister establishment Tasca by offering a varied selection of tapas and small plates (patrons looking for chicken parmigiana are out of luck). Barflies enjoy juicy Black Angus burgers with their beers, while more adventurous types nibble on smoky roast duck empanadas or tender chicken-cilantro quesadillas.
