The Scene
Lucia doesn't look like much has changed since the Frattaroli family opened it in 1977. Brightly colored murals tattoo every inch of wall and ceiling space in the main dining room, which has a distinctly retro feel. The downstairs dining room is less visually stimulating but no less lively. Perfunctory service is leisurely to a fault but accurate.

The Food
Once diners get over the murals, all attention is needed to concentrate on the enormous and overwhelming menu, which focus on the cuisine of Italy's Abruzzi region. Skip the meager list of appetizers to save room for the huge main courses. Granasso d'Italia, a surprisingly light dish of veal, peas, artichokes, proscuitto, pine nuts, eggplant and mozzarella is said to reflect the green farmland and snow-capped mountains of Abruzzi. Gnocchi d'Abruzzo con pesto lacks the spark that ignites truly excellent pesto; bolder tastes are found in the meaty offerings.
