The Scene
The Hyatt Regency's house restaurant serves contemporary cuisine to a mix of hotel guests and business types. The soft-colored dining room overlooks an expansive lounge, where live music is often featured. Conveniently located within walking distance of the Theatre District, Avenue One serves an excellent pre-theatre, prix-fixe menu; patrons have the option of returning for dessert after the show. Pleasant waiters provide a competent level of service, and a varied wine list features an exceptional number of varieties by the glass.
The Food
Avenue One's kitchen churns out large portions of straightforward Modern American fare, with mostly positive results. Among the starters, a crab cake with avocado relish proves a satisfying choice. Typical entrees include a New York strip with mashed Yukon gold potatoes and a seared halibut filet with warm beet vinaigrette and corn-wheatberry pilaf. Many patrons opt to finish their meal by sharing a sinful pot of warm chocolate fondue.
