The Scene
A bit offbeat for a strip-mall pizza joint, Puccini's large dining room is filled with vinyl booths, red-checked tablecloths and quirky macaroni art. The young staff efficiently works both the ovens and the tables, tending to the pizza whims of teenagers, families and neighborhood office workers.
The Food
The focus is on blissful, thin-crust pies and flaky calzones. Choose from over 50 toppings--traditional pepperoni to onion marmalade to chorizo sausage--or select one of Puccini's specialties. The margherita is a perfect marriage of tomatoes, fresh basil and fontina cheese. Sun-dried tomatoes, piquant chili oil and fresh prawns top another pleasing pie. The meatball calzone stuffed with mushrooms and Gorgonzola is Italian comfort food at its best. Soups, salads and pasta dishes round out the menu, but stick to pizza--it's what they do best.
