The Scene
Korean barbecue is a fun do-it-yourself dining experience that begins when the server slams a bin of red-hot coals into the little grill built inside your table. Don't worry about not knowing the particulars. The servers explain the custom of the Korean barbecue and take you through the process of cooking your own dinner.
The Food
A platter of raw, marinated meat (chicken, beef or pork) is brought out, along with about a dozen little bowls of condiments like dried fish, anchovy paste and kimchee (fermented vegetables). Rice supplements the meal and is used to stuff lettuce leaves along with the marinated meat you've cooked yourself. Don't want to cook your own meal?
