The Scene
Le Titi de Paris alumnus Kirk Pepper (the owner and namesake) offers comfortable French dining in the Northwest suburbs with this freestanding spot . The ambience is charming without being quaint--honey-hued wood, mustard walls, jazzy background music and gracious service. The space boasts multiple dining environments, each with its own appealing qualities (e.g., cozy fireplace room with vaulted ceiling, airy mezzanine with a vast mural).
The Food
French classics with some seasonal influences, such as seared panko-crusted ahi over jicama salad as a summer appetizer, or grilled tiger shrimp with braised fennel and champagne sauce in winter. Crab cake with garlic rouille sauce, French onion soup and lobster bisque are year-round favorites, as is pan-seared foie gras with homemade brioche. Entrees highlight fresh fish and game. Signature dishes include rack of lamb, seared and delicately sauced; and hearty roasted Canadian black pheasant, nesting on pistou spaetzle, bathed in a luxurious sauce forestière (a creamy mushroom and white wine sauce).
