The Scene
Big, loud and masculine, Joe's is a throwback to the days of the country-club restaurant--complete with a pompadour-coiffed, tuxedo-clad host. Mirrors make the large wraparound dining room seem enormous, and the place buzzes with a comfortable mix of white collars, tourists and society types. Table servers are consummate pros, casual and friendly but assuredly capable.
The Food
Joe's signature is its fresh, meaty stone crab claws; an assortment of other seafood and steak dishes fill out the menu. Dig into the ''2nd Mortgage'' appetizer platter, which includes several already cracked, medium-sized crab claws, jumbo shrimp, succulent lobster tail (amazing), and shrimp and scallop seviche. Creamy, delicate stone crab bisque, crispy lobster tail tempura, jumbo crab claws, the juicy 12-ounce filet, even sides like cole slaw and crusty, cheesy ''Jennie's potatoes''--just about everything on this menu is outstanding. Don't forget Joe's Key lime pie for dessert, a tart and tangy specialty of the house.
