The Scene
Step into this dark, low-ceilinged room and step right back in time to a fancy '30s seafood spot. Dark wood walls are covered in nautical memorabilia, tables are clothed in red-and-white checks and career waiters are clad in sea captain's uniforms. Regulars hang at the oyster bar; the dining-room crowd is mostly suits, tourists and locals celebrating special occasions.
The Food
The seafood menu is extensive, with more than a dozen market selections, from Dover sole to simple tuna. Clams and oysters arrive salty and fresh; the side service of horseradish, Tabasco and crackers is the perfect presentation you'd expect here. New England clam chowder's a creamy classic, chunky with diced potatoes and big meaty clams. Other favorites include Cobb salad, Dover sole and swordfish medallion with crab cakes.
