The Scene
Caro Mio bustles with a friendly neighborhood crowd, drawn to the modest one-room eatery by reasonable prices and a BYOB policy (your server can provide fixings for mixed drinks). The dining room is simply decorated with burnt orange walls and mix-and-match curtains, but a welcoming vibe and romantic lighting more than make up for the humble surroundings.
The Food
No surprises, just consistently good by-the-book Italian fare. Among the two dozen pasta dishes, linguini all'Arrabiata in spicy red sauce is a zippy favorite; tortelloni with chicken is a good bet too. Risotto with porcini mushrooms is enough for three--a big, earthy bowlful brimming with dark, rich flavor. You'll also find chicken Vesuvio, osso buco, seafood stew, and a petit filet mignon with porcini mushroom sauce among the offerings here.
