In Short
Departing from his days at Avenues, the touted chef presents a rule-breaking bistro experience at his eponymous restaurant with exposed brick, ductwork, a communal table and expansive windows that let in light. Bucking the white tablecloth scene, servers don Converse and denim. Furthering the unfussy feel, aged cheddar risotto gets garnished with Cheez-Its. Seafood gets play, too, in the form of brandade beignets with Meyer lemon tartar sauce or chorizo-crusted scallops with saffron bubbles. Bar snacks bypass the basics in favor of Brie cheese sticks with white peach chutney and crisp buffalo chicken wings with blue cheese foam.
