The Scene
Now this is a pizza parlor. Slip into one of Gulliver's ornate, dark wood booths and you'll know why they claim to have the largest collection of turn-of-the-century antiques in the United States. Old brass figurines, stained glass plates and marble busts cover the walls and shelves. The ceiling is hidden beneath a vast web of ornate chandeliers. The clientele is neighborhood-casual, lots of couples and families; service is laid-back and friendly.
The Food
The expansive menu lists everything from bar food standards (wings, nachos, calamari) to half-pound ''Gulliburgers,'' pastas, sandwiches and pockets. And oh yeah, pizza. Pies come in three varieties: pan, thin-crust and stuffed. The pan is outstanding, with a firm, buttery crust and chunky tomato sauce. For thin-crust aficionados, choose the in-the-pan version; it's tomatoey and flavorful, and much lighter than deep dish. More than 30 topping options include artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers and alfredo sauce.
