SERIOUSLY GOOD. Avoid the really over-the-top sushi rolls. They're not worth it. But the gyoza is, as is their eggplant appetizer, and their traditional...read more

The Scene
Young, trendy locals gather at this buzzing storefront restaurant, whose blond-wood floors and brushed-aluminum chairs combine with ambient club music to set a stylish, minimalist scene. Banquettes stretch the length of the 75-seat space, facing two side-by-side bars--one for sushi, the other for cocktails. Fast, friendly servers work in tandem to keep things moving quickly.
The Food
Tank's expansive menu offers a full slate of sushi, plus small plates of delectable fusion fare like firecracker shrimp wrapped in crispy wontons and meaty barbecue pork ribs with five-spice honey-tamarind glaze. Seviche with shrimp, calamari and scallops is a refreshing starter, though sushi lovers will want to go straight to generous maki rolls like the Ocean Sundae (shrimp tempura, avocado, cream cheese and tempura crumbs) or the zippy Latin Heat (smoked salmon, tuna, jalapeno and cilantro). For dessert, try traditional mochi ice cream, or savor the rich coconut creme brulee.
