The Scene
With just a few aluminum tables and some stools in the window for seating, this friendly Lakeview spot mostly does takeout business. The walls are covered in splashily painted aphorisms (''eat your heart out,'' ''hit the spot''), giving the small space a whimsical feel.
The Food
Folks in this neighborhood are pretty fit (there are five gyms within walking distance), making Fresh Choice's light, healthy menu (smoothies, sandwiches and soups) just the ticket. Smoothies are available with or without low-fat yogurt; one favorite, Waller's Winner, combines strawberries, blueberries, banana and apple juice for a refreshing, tart and tangy mix. Chicken salad can be tricky, but Fresh Choice gets it just right with chunky, lean chicken, diced green onions and enough mayo to keep it together. Turkey chili is also good: hot and tomato-y with a nice spicy kick.
