The Scene
Located on Chimney Creek, just off the main drag linking Savannah and Tybee Island, the Crab Shack has all the makings of a tourist trap. Fortunately, you won't mind being roped in. Sit on the spacious deck overlooking the water, or in the screened-in dining area; you're likely to have plenty of company, as locals and visitors alike are drawn by the promise of fresh seafood in a leave-all-your-worries-behind environment. Spunky servers reflect the casualness of the atmosphere.
The Food
The Capt'n Crab's Sampler--a massive pile of snow crab legs, meaty crab claws, shrimp, mussels and spicy crawfish--is an efficient way to sample the wares. Boiled potatoes, corn on the cob and mild sausage supplement the seafood. The platter for one should easily satisfy two normal appetites. A side of deviled crab disappoints, but a fork full of the tangy Key lime pie will easily erase that memory.
