The Scene
Friendly banter from behind the counter keeps customers at the battered hamburger joint smiling. A row of stools hugs the small counter, while three picnic-style tables crowd the floor. Nothing's pretty here--not the salmon colored walls, the striped curtains or dark wood trelliswork--but Rhea's isn't about image. Like the sign says, ''If you don't like my food, there's the door.''

The Food
Biting into one of Rhea's special burgers invites memories of old-fashioned hamburger joints--real or imagined. The tasty ground beef patty gets a perfect complement with shredded lettuce and onion, mixed with mustard, ketchup and mayo and topped with tomato and cheese. Burgers come stuffed between buttered, lightly grilled white bread. Messy hot dogs can be topped with chili, slaw or cheese. A side of the hot, greasy, crispy crinkle cut fries completes the order. Breakfast also draws a crowd, with choices of sausage, bacon, egg or ham biscuits.
