The Scene
Pleasant but somewhat bare, the restaurant's dining room has sunny walls, terra-cotta photomurals, an open kitchen, stonework and numerous water pipes on display. Roomy booths provide the best seating options. The hospitable owners double as servers and will gladly explain unfamiliar menu items, but are rather lackadaisical about refilling glasses and clearing plates.
The Food
Start with the excellent, if somewhat pricey, combination platter of 10 hot and cold mezzas, which includes tabbouleh, hummus, spinach pie and falafel (Ask nicely and the staff will even substitute items). The combination chicken and beef shwarma is flavorful, but dry, as is the whole fried tilapia; condiments or sesame sauce save both. For dessert, the katayef, a lick-your-lips, half-moon-shaped pastry stuffed with walnuts and glazed with honey, trumps the more familiar baklava.
