The Scene
The motto, ''eat little, well and often,'' sets the tone for this bustling Northern Italian eatery. The dining room is done in warm earth tones: dark woods, white linens, proper stemware, though some tables are too close together. Presiding over the place is a massive painting of a monk tucking into a plate of pasta and the clipped, efficient hostess/owner. Servers are less steely, yet competent, and food appears almost too swiftly. (Don't the Italians linger?)
The Food
With a few well-placed twists on classics, most dishes succeed. The ''fruit of the sea'' salad with grapefruit, mussels, scallops and shrimp has verve. The taglietelle with goat cheese, tomatoes and broccoli is rustic and satisfying; tuna arrisoto is light, healthful and perfectly cooked. The glossy, rich salmon risotto is filled with more fish than rice. Skip the tiramisu in favor of the homemade gelato.
