The Scene
Popular with gym-clothed Emory students and Decatur families alike, this plain, unpretentious restaurant offers all the usual ''Mexican restaurant'' visual cues anticipated by the red-and-green logo. Service is fast and fairly friendly.
The Food
Los Loros works just fine as the reliable local Mexican restaurant, with standards like cheese dip and enchiladas. Its menu is substantial, but many of the more traditional dishes tend to be disappointingly bland. Chips, salsa and guacamole are good, although the salsa had more heat than flavor, and the guacamole was under seasoned. Garlic shrimp cooked with pico de gallo and poblano peppers offered a generous portion but was otherwise unmemorable. Carnitos estilo michoacan--grilled ground pork with coriander and guacamole--fared better, but owing to a lack of toppings, the dish looked and tasted like a naked taco.
