The Scene
You might not see any briefcases open, but this classic, high-energy steakhouse clearly caters to the north side business traffic. Wood-trimmed, masculine decor and low lighting craft the perfect ambience for the meal after the meeting. Service is snappy, if not especially warm.
The Food
Steak, fish and seafood dominate the menu; game is occasionally offered. Appetizers tend to disappoint, as the Oysters Rockefeller lacks its distinctive anise flavor. But the entrees are divine. The 16-ounce rare rib-eye beholds a perfectly seared exterior, and the massive 14-ounce rare veal chop is sweet and flavorful. Go with the glorious asparagus on the side, with either classic béarnaise or hollandaise sauce. Desserts are sufficient for two and worth the calories, especially the pecan-laden Millionaire's Pie with coffee caramel ice cream.
