The Scene
A heavily-glassed Hollywood vibe oozes from every scale of this splashy Japanese fusion restaurant. Beautiful hostesses and white leather wrap-around booths reinforce the over-the-top theme; while silver chopsticks and hot, hand-washing towls serve as a reminder that this is not merely an art-deco version of RuSans.
The Food
While the grilled sea bass and steak seared tableside are flashy, the sushi outshines the overbearing and sometimes confusing menu. The raw fish selection is inventive and affordable, with rolls coming in large numbers chocked full of fresh fare. Tasting as if sesame chicken collided head first with tuna sashimi, the unique Manhattan roll is stuffed with warm, tempura battered chicken and topped with a pile of cool, spicy tuna. The delicious Jacksonville roll is crammed with crunchy crawfish and seared white tuna flaunting a wasabi-vs.-Creole invention. For a kick-ass cool-down, don't miss the green tea ice cream for dessert.
Hits: Elegant decor and an outstanding sushi selection make this a good spot to hit both early and late.
Misses: The puzzling menu includes pizza and a few other Euro-entrees, making it tough to navigate--stick with the fish, or high-end Japanese fare.
