The Scene
The large, elegant dining room is quiet even when full, thanks to beautiful, understated cream banquettes, silk pillows in gold and mocha and neutral carpet. Red columns anchor the soaring space, jazz plays, lighting flatters. The exhibition kitchen gives the sophisticated crowd a glimpse of the culinary artistry. Service is unobtrusive, gracious and attentive.
The Food
The spectacular Thai dishes, conceived by co-owner Chef Nan, are deeply nuanced, each bite revealing layered flavors. Highlights include beet juice-tinted dumplings and yum pla ka pong, a salad of delicately fried red snapper with green mango presented with a martini glass filled with spears of raw green beans, carrots, celery and basil. Braised beef short ribs with Massaman curry sauce are luscious and fork tender, while whole sizzling fish with dry green curry is a sight to behold and taste. Bracing lemongrass pot de creme is a fitting dessert.
