In Short
P'Cheen is Gaelic for ''moonshine'' and the owners are spot-on with this bit of low-lit Euro-luminosity in a recharged neighborhood. A pioneer of both the gastropub movement and the Old 4th Ward dining scene, this burnt amber-hued and shabby-chic spot went from a cutting edge rarity to a neighborhood favorite. The friendly and accent-heavy bartenders remember your name and your drink, while the menu combines European favorites with a touch of delicate, better-than-average bar treats. Guinness beer battered fish-and-chips and traditional shepherd's pie leave the overseas-influence in tact, while the grilled Angus burger and curried muscles offer a sense of comfort and sophistication. Constantly pushing the gastro-definition, P'Cheen brilliantly brings in DJ's for after-hours and has local art on display for sale.
