The Scene
The next best thing to a cottage on the Cote d'Azur, this charming tumbledown cafe is a study in low-key romance. Inside is a cozy bar and a crowded, but comfortable, dining room with heavily plastered walls. The real attraction, though, is the front patio--perfect for long, wine-soaked evenings. Service is friendly, but can't keep pace on a busy evening.
The Food
Native charm is what's on tap at this French-Mediterranean restaurant. Moules marinieres, plump mussels in a rich broth of white wine and cream, makes a good starter, as does traditionally prepared beef carpaccio. Chicken tagine, an entree of roasted chicken and couscous with root vegetables and fruit, is full of flavor. There's also herb-crusted grouper in tomato-saffron broth. A simple apple tart enclosed in a crispy envelope of puff pastry makes a good finale.
